CERYN Engineering Ltd brings together chartered civil and structural engineering expertise, diverse project experience and practical, buildable solutions across rail, highway and building assets. We provide clients with a single, accountable point of contact for inspection, assessment and design, from early investigation through to delivery documentation.
One team across the asset lifecycle. Select a stage to see what you receive, the standards we work to and a recent project.
GRP infill plates and handrail renewal to a disused truss underbridge, closing fall risks through the bottom chord.
Close-up Principal Inspection of the cantilever runway beam system, carried out to CS 450 from the existing underdeck gantry.
Canopy assessment and truss bracing in the temporary condition, allowing steelwork repairs with the station open to the public.
CERYN exists to keep ageing highway and rail structures in safe, economic service. Our vision is a practice where every recommendation is traceable to evidence and to a clause — where an asset owner, a checker or the next engineer can follow the reasoning without having to repeat the work.
We intend to grow deliberately rather than quickly: chartered directors remaining on the job, in-house calculation tools developed to match the standards our projects demand, and a team given real responsibility early under chartered supervision. Reputation is built one defensible deliverable at a time.
Assessment and targeted intervention ahead of replacement, so budgets extend asset life rather than shorten it.
Calculations issued in a checkable format, referenced to CS 454, the Eurocodes and Network Rail standards — never a black box.
Structured chartership routes and breadth across inspection, assessment and design rather than a narrow specialism.
Scope set at the right level for the decision in hand — no assessment work that the question does not need.
Every check referenced to its clause, every assumption written down and testable by the next engineer.
Work planned for live rail, highway and buildings environments, with temporary works considered from the outset.
Directors on the job, working alongside contractors, checkers and asset owners rather than reporting from a distance.
Specialising in Highway, Rail and building structures, CERYN provides a complete suite of inspection, assessment, design and assurance services, covering bridges, structural refurbishments, retaining walls, culverts and other critical infrastructure assets. The consultancy also delivers Network Rail–compliant engineering services, including design certification, structural assurance and documentation aligned with industry standards.
Decisions made with confidence, risk understood early, and delivery information ready for action.

CERYN Core is the calculation software we built for our own work in inspection, assessment and design. It brings together more than 100 calculation modules to the Eurocodes, British Standards and Network Rail standards, with analysis tools for frames, sections, connections and masonry arches. Every calculation produces a full sheet with the clause of each check, the symbols as the codes write them, drawings to scale and the bending moment, shear force, axial force and deflection diagrams of every member.

We are a small consultancy led by two chartered directors, working directly on highway and rail structures for Network Rail, Transport for Wales and tier-one contractors. That means no layers between you and the asset: you inspect it, assess it, and design the intervention.
Engineers here are trusted with their own scopes early, supported by director-level review on every deliverable. If you want breadth across inspection, assessment and design rather than a narrow specialism, this is the right size of practice.
Structured ICE and IStructE routes with a chartered supervising civil engineer, mentor time and paid professional fees.
Time on structures as well as in the analysis — examinations, night possessions and the assessment work that follows.
Hybrid arrangements around inspection programmes, with time-off-in-lieu for possession and weekend work.
CERYN Core, our own calculation software, with its analysis tools for frames, sections, connections and masonry arches, plus PTS, confined space and rope access training as required.
Bridges, retaining walls, culverts, buildings and temporary works — across inspection, assessment and design in the same year.
You present your own findings to asset owners and contractors, with a director alongside you.
A competitive salary, reviewed every year, and a generous holiday package on top of bank holidays.

We keep talking to engineers whose experience fits the direction of the practice, particularly in rail structures examination and assessment. Tell us what you want to work on and we will be straight with you about whether and when we can offer it.
Enquiries go straight to a chartered director — Owain or Sergio — who will reply within one working day. Urgent site issues are better by phone.
